After this lecture students should: * know the different types of lithium-ion batteries (LIB) * know the different types of production and end-of-life (EoL) wastes * understand the hazards of LIBs and measures to mitigate risks during handling and processing * know the legislative framework for recycling * know the current discharging and dismantling practice and future requirements to treat larger volumes * understand processes to produce metal concentrates from battery wastes * understand metallurgical process routes to refine black mass into battery grade (BG) chemicals * have a basic understanding of the economics of the recycling chain |
