Lernorganisation Upon completion of this course students can:

* identify the language skills required for each section of the TOEFL Test;
* understand reading and listening texts based on academic topics and campus-related situations;
* express themselves clearly and understandably in response to questions concerning their opinions and reading or listening tasks;
* compose coherent short essays in response to academically based tasks.
Leistungsnachweis Students will be assessed by active participation and regular attendance in class, completion of homework assignments, and a final exam similar to the TOEFL iBT Test.

To attend this course, you must receive a minimum of 70% on the placement test (see chart ”Kursanforderungen” on Stud IP under ”Einstufungstest Englisch”).
 
All students who would like to participate in an English course this semester for the first time must take the placement test on Monday, April 13th or on Tuesday, April 14th. The test will take place in six groups. The test is offered online.
Please register for one of the groups on Stud.IP before the test begins.
Literatur Reading materials will be discussed in the first class meeting.

Sonstiges After the initial two or three sessions in Room 101, the course will be held online. The Final Test will also be held in Room 101.

This course aims at the preparation of students for the TOEFL-Test and focuses on the improvement of advanced general language skills, along with the development of test-specific skills and strategies.
