Lernorganisation Upon completion of this course participants can:

* understand pieces of American culture and history;
* recognize common characteristics of different film genres;
* use cinematic terms properly in discussions regarding films;
* analyze films in regards to genre and cinematic aspects;
* write analytically about films with regards to genre and cinematic aspects.
Leistungsnachweis Students will be assessed by active participaton, regular attendance in class, completion of homework assignments, a short presentation and a final paper.

To attend this course, you must receive a minimum of 60% on the placement test (see chart ”Kursanforderungen” on Stud IP under ”Einstufungstest Englisch”).
 
All students who would like to participate in an English course this semester for the first time must take the placement test on Monday, April 13th or on Tuesday, April 14th. The test is offered online. The test will take place in six groups.
Please register for one of the groups on Stud.IP before the test begins.
Literatur Reading materials will be discussed in the first class meeting.
Medienformen Students will work with various forms of print and digital media.

Kommentar/Beschreibung

This course addresses learners who have reached the B2 or a higher level of the CEFR and who would like to improve their English skills through the use of film. This course aims at the improvement of the learners’ oral/aural skills, their intercultural communicative competence, and their understanding of American culture through an examination of film.
